- Hi all,
- I'm new to this formum, and have questions about getting information on
- large storage optical disks. Specifically, I need to be able to store over a
- gigabyte of information on one disk. I work for AT&T Bell Labs in Whippany NJ,
- and we are looking for a long-term mass storage device to replace
- High-Density-Data-Rec Recorders (HDDR Tape drives) that we are currently using.
- The goal here is to replace the tape drives with some kind of digital device.
- CD-ROMS seems to be the place to start. I would also like any information on
- digital video tape recording.
- Information I would like would include: Just how big of a CD-ROM disk
- can I get? How much would it cost? What kind of interface does it need? We are
- also thinking about Read-Write capability, if not now, then in the future, so
- expandablity/compatibilty must also be concidered. Any info would be most
- appreciated! Send me EMAIL at or write to me here in the forum.
- Thanks!
- A. Clark

- Marcus,
-
- What part of Ohio are you in? I am in Cincinnati and we have several folks
- here from Columbus. Welcome to the forum. I just joined last week and I think
- the forum just started about mid March so everyone is new.

- MSDS stands for "Material Safety Data Sheet", which is the document that the
- producer of a chemical-based product must provide to the user of the product.
- It conveys info about the producer along with the contents of the product,
- including toxicity, antidotes, etc. -Eric
